Jewellery Care

Like us, jewellery needs a bit of TLC every now and again to keep it looking its best. By following the simple steps below you can ensure many years of enjoyment.

I recommend removing all jewellery at night and when partaking in any manual or physical activities (think decorating, gardening, rock climbing etc!) Do not spray any perfumes, or apply lotions etc while wearing jewellery.

Start off with immersing the piece in some warm water and mild detergent (I find washing up liquid is best) leave it to soak for 5 minutes.

Use a soft old toothbrush to gently remove any build up of dirt from the back of stones etc.

Rinse in warm water and dry thoroughly on some kitchen paper.

Silver jewellery can be ‘dipped’ in a commercial jewellery cleaning fluid but always follow the manufacturers instructions carefully. Do not use on oxidised (black) pieces.

With wear, all jewellery reflects the life it has accompanied you on. Polished jewellery becomes duller and matt finished pieces begin to shine.

To reinstate a matt finish I find green scotchbrite pads give the closest match to the original texture. Rub a small square of the pad in small circles over the metal surface and then rinse and clean as instructions above.
